Terms Entered in Search
A name, place, or other term entered in a search feature is sent to the third-party provider that operates that feature. Alger County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider may process the query under its separate privacy policy and terms.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the message and the details you supply long enough to review and answer it. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, a valid court order, or another binding legal process.
Information Collected During Visits
Basic technical and usage details may be recorded when a browser requests a page. These records help deliver the site, measure traffic, diagnose faults, and protect the service. The automatically collected details can include:
- The internet protocol address used for the request
- Browser name, browser version, and language settings
- Device category and operating system
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Date and time stamps tied to visits or requests

Government and Outside Links
Links may lead to the Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Alger County Jail resources, MDOC OTIS, parole and probation information, federal or immigration custody tools, and other outside services. County administrative records may also be requested under Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 through 15.246. Advertising partners can use their systems to recognize activity across different websites and select interest-based ads. Any such tracking occurs through the partner’s technology and policies, not through an official Alger County or Michigan corrections record system.

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may reach service providers that perform a necessary function or a public authority acting through valid legal process, including:
- Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure visits and site performance
- Advertising networks that deliver or evaluate ads
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Safeguarding Personal Information
Reasonable, commonly used administrative and technical practices are applied to information under our control. No website, transmission method, or internet-connected storage system can be made completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that data will never be intercepted, lost, misused, or exposed.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly request or collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent, guardian, or minor believes such information was submitted, use Contact Us to request review and deletion.

These choices cover data held by this site. A correction to a Sheriff, court, MDOC, BOP, ICE, or other government record must be directed to the agency that owns that record.
